What is Fancoil?

The fan coil system is a water-based system consisting of fans and coils. If cold water flows through the coil, cooling is performed; if hot water flows, heating is done.

Hot water (from a boiler) and/or chilled water (from a chiller) prepared at a central point is sent to the fan coil units installed in the rooms. Air taken from the room is passed over the coils with the help of a fan, heated or cooled, and then blown back into the room.

Fan coil units are preferred in applications where there is insufficient space to accommodate large ducts, such as in multi-room buildings.

Fan coils come in various alternatives, including concealed ceiling, high static pressure, four-way blowing cassette, concealed, and cassette floor types, and wall-mounted options.
